You Never Know!

Three summers ago, my family and I drove to Winnipeg, Manitoba to visit my grandma. It was a three-day drive, every day from the crack of dawn to when a large black blanket covered the sky. I had road trips before, so I was sure that it was going to be boring: just roads, mountains, and lack of sleep. However, it was nearly the opposite.

The first day, from morning to noon, it was still normal: a lot of trees, plenty of water, and tons of farms. When we passed the border of BC and Alberta, things changed. Alberta seemed to have more fuel resources. Gasoline was 25% cheaper, and in restaurants the machines were faster. In Edmonton, everything looked like they were new. The next day, across Regina, Saskatchewan, it was full of beauty. There were flowers everywhere; a statue of Elizabeth II wearing a crown; free, roaming animals like cows, sheep and even horses! It was a completely new planet!

On the way from Saskatchewan to Manitoba, there were only farms, along both sides of the road. There were plants everywhere. It was always a moderate-warm temperature in the summer, so it was almost like Disneyland, which is usually like a furnace. Maybe driving to Winnipeg for three days was not so bad after all!

When my family and I got back home, I realized something: don’t judge a book by its cover. You never know!
